چکیده

This paper addresses the problem of fast Human Activity Recognition (HAR) in visual lifelogging. We identify the importance of visual features related to HAR and we specifically evaluate the HAR discrimination potential of Colour Histograms and Histogram of Oriented Gradients. In our evaluation we show that colour can be a low-cost and e↵ective means of low-cost HAR when performing single-user classification. It is also noted that, while much more e cient, global image descriptors perform as well or better than local descriptors in our HAR experiments. We believe that both of these findings are due to the fact that a user’s lifelog is rich in reoccurring scenes and environments.

Smart Lifelogging: Recognizing Human Activities using PHASOR

This paper introduces a new idea for sensor data analytics, named PHASOR, that can recognize and stream individual human activities online. The proposed sensor concept can be utilized to solve some emerging problems in smartcity domain such as health care, urban mobility, or security by creating a lifelog of human activities. PHASOR is created from three ‘components’: ID, model, and Sensor. The...

LifeLogging: Personal Big Data

We have recently observed a convergence of technologies to foster the emergence of lifelogging as a mainstream activity. Computer storage has become significantly cheaper, and advancements in sensing technology allows for the efficient sensing of personal activities, locations and the environment. This is best seen in the growing popularity of the quantified self movement, in which life activit...

SensCare: Semi-automatic Activity Summarization System for Elderly Care

The fast growing mobile sensor technology makes sensorbased lifelogging system attractive to the remote elderly care. However, existing lifelogging systems are weak at generating meaningful activity summaries from heterogeneous sensor data which significantly limits the usability of lifelogging systems in practice. In this paper, we introduce SensCare, a semi-automatic lifelog summarization sys...

Analysing privacy in visual lifelogging

The visual lifelogging activity enables a user, the lifelogger, to passively capture images from a first-person perspective and ultimately create a visual diary encoding every possible aspect of her life with unprecedented details. In recent years, it has gained popularities among different groups of users. However, the possibility of ubiquitous presence of lifelogging devices specifically in p...

Acceptability of Novel Life Logging Technology to Determine Context of Sedentary Behavior in Older Adults

Objective Lifelogging, using body worn sensors (activity monitors and time lapse photography) has the potential to shed light on the context of sedentary behaviour. The objectives of this study were to examine the acceptability, to older adults, of using lifelogging technology and indicate its usefulness for understanding behaviour. Method 6 older adults (4 males, mean age: 68yrs) wore the eq...
